MAMP and localhost
Thanks to Michael Doig, for his article Installing MAMP and Wordpress. I read it after I installed MAMP on my new MacBook Pro. I am an ex-Windower and happy about it. I do want to add a MAMP for dummies (that’s me). When I loaded my site into htdocs, I couldn’t figure out how to run it on my localhost. Did I have to use the MAMP directory? Also include the htdocs? Anyway, I figured it out and thought I’d post it here for other beginning MAMPers.
Say your site is under TheBestSite folder in htdocs. And let’s say that the page you’re trying to visualize is index.php.
This is what you type in the browser’s URL:
http://localhost:8888/TheBestSite/index.php
Hope this helps.
