I’m reading “The Secret of Scent” by Luca Turin.
I’d like to devote my next few posts to interesting factoids scattered on almost every page. I’ve always been fascinated by perfumes, so this book is satiating my curiosity quite a bit. Here we go:

• There is an independent perfumery school, ISIPCA, founded by Guerlain in 1970 (as ISIP) and renamed ISIPCA in 1984, when it received a substantial amount of money
• (This is kind of obvious but interesting to state anyway.) Smelling is an active process and you can’t tell when others are sniffing or whether they feel (sniff) what you feel (smell.)
• In 2003 alone, there were eight perfume launches a WEEK.
